As we live the
days of our life, we see and experience so many things. In fact we see others
and outside more than we do ourselves and inside of us. The things we come
across or experience are a mixture of good and bad. How dare I say that they
are good or bad? I say so on the basis of what my eyes see them as and what
mind feels about them.
It is a bad
habit to compare things and even worse to say bad about others or about things
that don't belong to us. But how many of us abstain from doing it or say even
try? We have the ethical notion that it is not good to do so, but we fail most
of the time. It's a common habit - to talk about good or bad things about the
things around you.
Objects which
are of attraction to our eyes are seen good and lovable, while things we don't
like are thought to be bad. No complains though, because this is human tendency
and until we are enlightened, I don't see a day we would stop doing this.
How do we see
ourselves? You may say by reflecting on our life. You are right. Mirror and the
like objects with the help of which we see our physical reflection are common
objects we use to see us. We spent minutes standing before it, making sure we
look good to the maximum. Some don't do it. My notion is quite generic. We care
a lot about self. Did you guys ever think how the world or say your life would
be without mirrors or such objects which give reflection? How would it be like?
What would we feel like? As far as I am concerned, I have a feeling that most
of the time, if not always, the bad things we talk or see about others
basically stem from comparison of that 'other' with one's self. Am I right?
Due to the very
above notion I have in my mind, I feel there would be less of bad talks about
others if we don't see ourselves. I think so because without those objects of
reflection, we will be lacking a ground to criticize others. We may feel like
doing it still but then then we would think about us. Am I good enough to say
bad about him? Do I have better qualities or features than him? Such thinking
will hold us back. What do you feel? This are just my personal perceptions and
they can be wrong and they must be, I doubt.
Shalom.....
Shalom.....
